Google Drive Offline Mode is Now Available to Everyone

When it comes to cloud storage, Google Drive is one of the best options. Google continues to add new features to Drive in order to improve the overall user experience. Google announced a significant shift a few months ago. On desktops, the cloud app is undergoing a major overhaul: a new Google Drive software will replace the present experience. Prior to that, Google is making another significant update to Google Drive. Google Drive offline mode is now available to everyone. The new functionality allows you to access specific files and documents in your browser even when there is no internet connection.

Google Drive Offline Mode is Now Available to Everyone

Google began testing an option in Google Drive's web version in early 2019 that allows you to make all file types, including PDFs, pictures, and Microsoft Office documents, available for offline viewing. However, this was only available to beta users. The feature is now available to everyone.

Everyone may now access all file kinds even if they do not have an online connection thanks to the new feature. It is useful for folks who frequently travel to locations with unstable internet connectivity. Previously, only Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides could be accessed offline.

How to Enable Offline Mode in Google Drive

To enable offline support for a specific file, simply right-click on it in your Drive and select the “available offline” option from the menu. You can choose as many files as you like to download offline. Through Drive's web-based gateway, you may then open those files using the compatible apps installed on your PC. The only disadvantage is that you must pick files one by one in order to make them available offline.

As part of this update, Chrome OS users on some of the top Chromebooks may now select which Docs, Sheets, and Slides files they want to make available offline via the Files app. This eliminates the need for them to access Drive or Docs in order to mark these files for offline viewing.

The tool is available to all Drive users, regardless of whether they have a personal or business account. In an office setting, however, administrators must manually enable offline access for their domain. Google has begun to push out the new functionality, which should be available to everyone by September 14.
